The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has opened up Act 537 Program Guidance Documents, Chapters 71-73 relating to onlot sewage (Site Suitability and Alternatives Analysis Guidelines for New Land Development Proposing Onlot Sewage Proposal, Alternate Systems Guidance, and Sewage Management Activities).
PAR, through representation on the Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) and the Sewage Advisory Committee (SAC), is closely monitoring the possible changes which include a yearly inspection and mandated septic tank pumping every other year.
DEP plans to have the updated regulations available for public comment in early 2008. Based on the current drafts, the Citizens Advisory Council, Sewage Advisory Committee and PAR have supplied DEP with letters expressing concerns and suggested changes. Letters can be found at the links below.
