Bush Names Rothman to Vet Group

Greg Rothman enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserves the day after the Gulf War began. Saddam Hussein had invaded Kuwait. Rothman figured he could do his part here in Pennsylvania.

Today, some 15 years later, Rothman, president/CEO and broker of record of RSR REALTORS® in Lemoyne, finds himself a member of another elite group, the Board of Directors of the National Veterans Business Development Corporation.

Sworn into office by President George W. Bush in April, Rothman joined this select group that is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and business opportunities for veterans and service-disabled veterans. His fellow board members include U.S. Defense Sec. Donald Rumsfeld, U.S. Sec. of Veterans Affairs R. James Nicholson and Hector V. Barreto, administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA).

“I’m excited about this opportunity to serve. Besides, I feel strongly about supporting those in the military,” Rothman said. “As REALTORS®, we’re all entrepreneurs. The National Veterans Business Development Corporation is an advocate on behalf of veteran-owned businesses.”

Rothman said that Pennsylvania ranks fourth nationwide with the most National Guard and Reserve troops currently deployed in the Middle East – and has the fourth-highest number of veteran-owned businesses.

We are helping veterans returning from this war to become business entrepreneurs, Rothman said.

A past president of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS®, Rothman worked closely with former U.S. Sec. of Housing and Urban Development Jack Kemp. Today Rothman works alongside Harrisburg city officials to confront urban blight and encourage a “back to the city” movement. His real estate clients include the City of Harrisburg, the Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority, Dauphin County, Harrisburg Parking Authority, Harrisburg Authority and Harrisburg School District.

Rothman also serves as vice-chair of the Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) and as secretary of the Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority.
